List of the 2022 Holidays in the Philippines
On October 29, 2021, President Rodrigo Duterte signed and released Proclamation 1236 which contained the list of regular, and special non-working days in the Philippines for year 2022. Continue reading to find out which days of the year are Philippine holidays, and how the holiday pay for both types of holidays in the Philippines are calculated as per the Philippines Labor Code.
Regular Holidays of the Philippines

Holidays with fixed dates are called Regular Holidays. Employees who are not working during Regular Holidays are still entitled to 100% pay.
These are the implications should companies ask their employees to work on Regular Holidays as per the Philippine Labor Code:
- If the Regular Holiday falls on a work day, employer must pay 200% of the employees’ day rate. Additional compensation for overtime work on such days will require the employer to pay 30% on top of the employee’s hourly rate.
- If the Regular Holiday falls on a rest day, employer must pay 250% of the employees’ day rate. Additional compensation for overtime work on such days will require the employer to pay 30% on top of the employee’s hourly rate.
Special Non-Working Holidays of the Philippines

Special Non-Working Holidays do not have fixed dates and may be declared by the President of the Philippines or by Congress. Employees who are not working during Special Non-working Holidays are not entitled to 100% pay.
These are the implications should companies ask their employees to work on Special Non-working Holidays as per the Philippine Labor Code:
- If the Special Non-working Holiday falls on a work day, employer must pay 130% of the employees’ day rate. Additional compensation for overtime work on such days will require the employer to pay 30% on top of the employee’s hourly rate.
- If the Special Non-working Holiday falls on a rest day, employer must pay 150% of the employees’ salary. Additional compensation for overtime work on such days will require the employer to pay 30% on top of the employee’s hourly rate.
